New Member Orientation
The New Member Orientation is designed for new SASB and standing committee members to become familiar with the structure of the IEEE-SA, policies and procedures relevant to the IEEE-SA Standards Board and its committees, and volunteer duties. Returning committee members may opt to attend for a refresher. An overview will be presented by John Kulick, IEEE-SA Standards Board Chair, and Claire Topp, IEEE-SA outside legal counsel. The orientation will be held on Tuesday, 24 March.

SASB Forum – “Technology Policy Impact and Import”
The Forum provides an environment where subjects of interest to the IEEE-SA standards community can be discussed in a moderated session.

Technology and the information revolution is transforming the ways we communicate, work, associate, innovate, and generate wealth. These rapid changes are bringing to the forefront the importance of ongoing dialogue and information sharing among policymakers and technologists to help rethink concepts, better understand the relationship and impact of technology and policy, and develop new approaches to technology and policy development for the benefit of humanity.

The Standards Board Forum will convene a panel of thought leaders that will discuss the connectedness of technology and policy in the context of important technological issues and challenges confronting society today, why it is important for technology and standards developers to be engaged, and how technology policy helps foster technological and innovative capabilities.

The Forum will be held on Wednesday, 25 March, 6:30pm-8:00pm at the Marriott Vienna Hotel. A social reception will be held afterwards.

Standards Board Meeting
Board members are asked to arrange their schedules to be present for the entire meeting as the entire body is responsible for all decisions that are made during the meeting. Meeting agendas will be available at a later date.
