The14-bit manufacturer ID is contained in the 64-bit basic TEDS. Along with the model and serial number also in the basic TEDS, the manufacturer ID allows unambiguous identification of IEEE 1451.4-2004 transducers in the IEEE 1451.4-2004 data network, allowing proper choice of the template for reading the transducer electronic data sheet (TEDS).
