Sharing IEEE SA Working Group Drafts with other IEEE SA Working Groups or an IEEE Standards Committee for CoordinationIf an IEEE SA Working Group is interested in distributing a draft standard to another IEEE SA Working Group or to an IEEE Standards Committee, the appropriate cover page1 provided by your Program Manager (PM) shall be included as the first page of the file.
Sharing IEEE SA Working Group Drafts with Organizations External to IEEEThe sharing of drafts with organizations external to IEEE is done in accordance with subclause 126.96.36.199 of the IEEE SA Standards Board Operations Manual, “Draft distribution for coordination with organizations external to IEEE.” A list of approved draft sharing relationships specific to each IEEE SA Working Group is available on the Working Group Draft Sharing List for Coordination. If the IEEE SA Working Group does not appear on the list as having an approved draft sharing relationship with the organization external to IEEE, the draft sharing relationship must be established prior to sharing the draft.
Establishing a Draft Sharing RelationshipIf the draft sharing relationship specific to the IEEE SA Working Group is not listed on the Working Group Draft Sharing List for Coordination, the IEEE SA Working Group submits the form “Request to Establish a Draft Sharing Relationship with Organizations External to IEEE“. The IEEE SA Program Manager will inform the IEEE SA Working Group as to the status of the request.
Sharing the IEEE SA Working Group Draft with an Organization External to IEEEOnce the draft sharing relationship has been established, the process for sharing the draft is as follows:
- The IEEE SA Working Group Chair completes the Cover Letter2 provided by the IEEE SA Program Manager and shall insert the cover letter as the first page of the draft standard in PDF format.
- The IEEE SA Working Group Chair sends the combined PDF to the organization external to IEEE, copying the Program Manager and IEEE SA IPR ([email protected]).
Maintaining the Draft Sharing RelationshipThe IEEE SA Working Group Chair is responsible for reviewing the draft sharing relationship annually with the IEEE SA Working Group to ensure that it continues to be productive. If the relationship is no longer productive, the IEEE SA Working Group or Standards Committee Chair shall inform IEEE SA Intellectual Property Rights ([email protected]) and the PM. For more information, please see the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Sharing of Drafts by IEEE Standards Working Groups for coordination.
1 The “cover page” is only to be used when sharing drafts with IEEE Standards Committees and IEEE SA Working Groups. 2 The “cover letter” is the actual letter to be used when sharing drafts with organizations external to IEEE.
