Superseded Standard

IEEE C37.17-2012

IEEE Standard for Trip Systems for Low-Voltage (1000 V and below) AC and General Purpose (1500 V and below) DC Power Circuit Breakers

Requirements for direct acting current and voltage protective functions of direct-acting overcurrent electromechanical trip devices, direct-acting overcurrent electronic trip systems, reverse-current trip systems for dc circuit breakers, and undervoltage trip devices that are integral with low-voltage ac (1000 V and below) and general purpose low-voltage dc (1500 and below) power circuit breakers covered by IEEE Std C37.13(TM), IEEE Std C37.14(TM), and IEEE Std C37.16(TM) are included in this standard. Additional information, communication and/or additional internal or external protective functions or devices are not covered (but also not restricted) by this standard.

PC37.17

Standard for Trip Systems for Low-Voltage (1000 V and below) AC and General Purpose (1500 V and below) DC Power Circuit Breakers

This standard pertains to the requirements for direct-acting current and voltage protective functions of the following that are integral with low-voltage ac and dc power circuit breakers covered by IEEE Std C37.13 and IEEE Std C37.14:na) Direct-acting overcurrent electromechanical trip devicesnb) Direct-acting overcurrent electronic trip systemsnc) Reverse-current trip systems for dc circuit breakersnd) Undervoltage trip devicesnThis standard describes the requirements for available settings and time delay characteristics for preferred protective functions as well as their operational and calibration requirements.nThe functional requirements for the overall circuit breaker, including test requirements (whether design, production, or conformance) are specified in the latest versions of IEEE Std C37.13, IEEE Std C37.14, and ANSI C37.50.

C37.17-2022

IEEE Standard for Trip Systems for Low-Voltage (1000 V and below) AC and General Purpose (1500 V and below) DC Power Circuit Breakers

This standard pertains to the requirements for current and voltage protective functions of 1) direct-acting overcurrent electromechanical trip devices, 2) direct-acting overcurrent electronic trip systems, 3) reverse-current trip systems, and 4) undervoltage trip devices that are integral with low-voltage ac (1000 V and below) and general-purpose low-voltage dc (1500 V and below) power circuit breakers covered by IEEE Std C37.13 and IEEE Std C37.14. Additional information, communication, and/or additional internal or external protective functions or devices are not covered by this standard. This standard should not be interpreted to restrict the inclusion of such functionality in the device.
