The standard establishes uniform technical minimum requirements for interconnection of data centers and associated components with electric transmission and electric utility distribution systems. It specifies requirements for functional capabilities, performance capability, and lifetime conformity of data centers. It specifies reference point of applicability, applicable voltage and frequency, ride-through capabilities and performance, post fault active power recovery timing, protection coordination, oscillation and ramp rate management, power quality, and monitoring methods. It also defines the data, models, and documentation needed for accurate system studies, including steady-state, positive-sequence, and model representations, load composition, protection and reclosing behavior, and backup power system interactions during both commissioning and operations. The standard builds upon the interconnection requirement methodologies of IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, and IEC 62786. Requirements for large load facilities other than data centers are not in the scope. Load components and supplemental equipment within a data center that may be used to achieve conformity with this standard are in scope.
