This recommended practice addresses Ultra High Frequency (UHF, from 20 kHz to 3 GHz) partial discharge detection in substations using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). It includes the positioning of detection points, technical requirements for UAV-mounted detection payloads, requirements for partial discharge testing, and requirements for inspection rules. The document applies to UAVs defined in IEEE Std 3327-2025.
