This recommended practice establishes a scientific quality evaluation standard for substation inspection Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and their systems throughout their operational lifecycle. The recommended practice provides detailed quality evaluation methods for assessing the condition of the drone body, related hardware, and auxiliary equipment, as well as the control functions of the drone system, data acquisition and processing performance, and data analysis performance. It applies to substation inspection UAVs as described in IEEE Std 3327-2025.
