About the Program
The Technology Policy Collaborative is a platform for policy and regulatory stakeholders to explore and develop approaches to address gaps at the intersection of technology, policy, legislation and regulation–for more effective implementation and alignments of regulatory frameworks and policy with standards, principles and best practices.
It offers a collaborative, flexible space for those engaged in policy and regulation, where they can:
- Explore and share best practices on approaches to technologies and their associated policy, legislation and regulation–to help ensure adaptability, interoperability and effective implementation
- Develop consensus-driven, practically oriented, and adaptive solutions and fresh governance approaches
Create governance tools–such as checklists, reference frameworks, case studies, mappings–that can assist with the understanding of and compliance with policies - Develop capacity building approaches tailored to specific needs or regions
- Translate policy goals into testable criteria and measurement, and more
In today’s fast-evolving technological landscape, gaps exist between policy development and its practical implementation through frameworks, standards and best practices. This often leads to challenges in aligning regulatory frameworks with the actual needs of the market and society, hindering innovation and causing potential unintended consequences. Existing ecosystems often fall short in providing a neutral, open platform for collaborative engagement at this critical intersection.
The TPC was created to meet these challenges–grounded in IEEE SA’s decades of convening and consensus-building experience, well-established initiatives at the intersection of technology, policy and standards, and flexible engagement modalities.
Adaptive AI
Building an AI market governance model that is practically-oriented and adaptive so responsive to dynamic evolution of AI and related digital fields which cut across established general or sectoral policies and require coordination as fresh approaches to use.
Digital and AI Governance for Children’s Well-Being
A collaboration among regulatory and policy community, supported by technical expertise, to support technical and regulatory frameworks for children’s online safety and empowerment.
Policy and Governance Considerations for Blockchain Applications
Defining a common language and a body of practically oriented resources that can help inform the development of policies, and the ability to compare them, across regions of the world and blockchain networks.
