New Frontiers in the Continuum of Care for Connected Health

About the Activity

Telehealth will revolutionize the healthcare ecosystem from drug/therapy development through to bedside practice; however, it is critical that all stakeholders—patients, clinicians, healthcare professionals, regulators, hospitals, technologists, and others—can access, trust, and validate the use of these systems to deliver quality on-demand patient care. The future of mobilized healthcare will heavily rely on a robust, seamless, private, secure, and connected bioinformatics highway, enabling real-time patient care beyond the hospital. The way we see telehealth today will look very different tomorrow. Telehealth is at its infancy yet the challenges are significant in enabling the future of health. Primary challenges include security, accessibility, privacy, and connectivity for all.

Goals of the Activity

This program will provide a platform for the global community to openly collaborate, build consensus, and develop technical solutions to challenges impeding trust and validation of this technology application. As a global community we will seek to:

  • Develop a solution to have mobile healthcare platforms interoperable with digital patient portals to verify and validate the telehealth visit for payors, regulators, and patients
  • Enable the future of healthcare of mobilizing critical care and urgent care from the hospital to the home with a seamless, secure, and private bioinformatic framework
  • Address inconsistent or absent technical, security encryption, and privacy-by-design protocols within mobile telehealth platforms
  • Create a reliable resource for healthcare practitioners and facilities to best evaluate solutions and guidance for utilizing a trusted telehealth platform for patient care delivery
  • Establish frameworks for security, connectivity, accessibility, and privacy for future technological innovation in telehealth delivery
  • Collectively address the challenge inhibiting accessible, secure, and private connections providing quality and sustainable access to immediate and critical care for immobilized and unconnected patients
