The IEEE Standard C37.118™-2005, for Synchrophasors for Power Systems,defines synchronized phasor measurements used in power system applications and provides a method to quantify this measurement.
This program aims to parse and extract the current active standards IEEE C37.118.1™-2011 and IEEE C37.118.1a™-2014 for these critical requirement types, and to specify essential procedures that can be used by test laboratories. The testing procedures are defined in the IEEE Synchrophasor Measurement Test Suite Specification.
The IEEE Synchrophasor Measurement Test Suite Specification was developed and supported by subject matter experts (SMEs) representing national laboratories, utilities, equipment manufactures and Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs). The IEEE Synchrophasor Measurement Test Suite Specification is available for purchase via TechStreet or the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library.
Companies that meet the ICAP conformance requirements become eligible for IEEE Synchrophasor Certification and are listed on the certification registry.

Synchrophasor Conformity Assessment Steering Committee
The Synchrophasor Conformity Assessment Steering Committee (SCASC) was formed in May 2012 and is comprised of SMEs in the field of power and energy. The SCASC’s has been a forum for the dissemination of best practices and shared discussions on issues of conformance and certification of Synchrophasors and has helped to accelerate Synchrophasor adoption through conformity assessment and certification programs. It is also charged with the development, delivery and maintenance of the IEEE Synchrophasor Measurement Test Suite Specification and developing the specific certification procedures and policies.
Current participants in the SCASC include representatives from academia, PMU manufacturers, multi-function equipment vendors, utilities, Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs), Independent System Operators (ISOs).
