An approach to preparing a functional specification for a unified power flow controller (UPFC) using modular multilevel converter (MMC) is documented by this guide. This guide provides the functional requirements for UPFC project application, including UPFC system composition, function and performance requirements, primary equipment requirements, control and protection requirements, characteristic description, spares, engineering studies, testing, documentation, as well as training of UPFC projects. The intention of this document is to serve as a base specification with an informative annex provided to guide utilities, manufacturers, integrators, and other interested entities to apply a particular UPFC project.

2745.2-2021
IEEE Guide for Technology of Unified Power Flow Controller Using Modular Multilevel Converter–Part 2: Terminology
A glossary and definition of unified power flow controller (UPFC) related areas, including the structure, equipment, control and protection, test, and maintenance utilized by UPFC are specified in this guide. The guide is applicable in flexible ac transmission system (FACTS) such as UPFC, static synchronous compensator (STATCOM), and static synchronous series compensator (SSSC).
2745.3-2020
IEEE Guide for Technology of Unified Power Flow Controller Using Modular Multilevel Converter--Part 3: Thyristor Bypass Switch
An approach to preparing a specification for the thyristor bypass switch (TBS) of a unified power flow controller (UPFC) using modular multilevel converter (MMC) technology is documented by this guide. The intention of this guide is to serve as a base specification to allow users to modify or develop specific clauses to meet a particular application.
2745.4-2022
IEEE Guide for Technology of Unified Power Flow Controller Using Modular Multilevel Converter--Part 4: Control and Protection Application
The application of control and protection on a unified power flow controller (UPFC) using a modular multilevel converter (MMC) is specified in this guide, including application considerations, protection functions and performance, control strategies, and monitoring functions, as well as test and commissioning approaches. This guide can be used as the basis for the design, manufacture, testing, and commissioning of UPFC control and protection systems, benefiting both utilities and manufacturers.
These standards have been replaced with a revised version of the standard, or by a compilation of the original active standard and all its existing amendments, corrigenda, and errata.
No Superseded Standards
These standards have been removed from active status through a ballot where the standard is made inactive as a consensus decision of a balloting group.
No Inactive-Withdrawn Standards
These standards are removed from active status through an administrative process for standards that have not undergone a revision process within 10 years.
No Inactive-Reserved Standards
