Every year on 14 October, IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) joins the international community in celebrating the importance of standards development and honoring the collaboration of individuals and organizations across the globe who drive technological innovation.
Our theme for this year’s celebration is “IEEE Standards that Transform Our Lives and Work.”
Imagine a world where you could not access the Internet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth, where you could not track your health on your favorite app, or where you could not find the right product with trusted quality or functions. In a world without IEEE Standards, we would not be able to enjoy the benefits of technological innovations or even live or work in the way we are used to.
Today, there are nearly 1,200 published IEEE Standards that aim to make our lives easier, safer, and more sustainable. You may not have noticed them, but these standards touch every piece of technology you own, providing the connectivity, interoperability, and security that we live and breathe every day.
Celebrate World Standards Day by Entering the 2021 Video Contest
In celebration of World Standards Day 2021, IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) invites you to tell us: What are the IEEE Standards that transform your life and work?
Submit a short video of any genre (e.g., self-recorded video, animation, documentary, music video, etc.) that answers the question. IEEE SA will select up to three (3) winning videos. Each winner will receive a $500 USD prize.
Your Video Entry Must:
- Be relevant to the 2021 theme
- Include reference to IEEE Standard(s)
- Be less than 2 minutes in length
- Be in English or include English subtitles
- Provide the URL link to the hosted video (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, etc.)
- Be original content
- Have the proper permission to use any imagery, footage, and other content in the submission and include credit as necessary
- Not contain inappropriate or offensive content
Contest Deadline:
- 15 September 2021 at 11:59 PM US EDT
Judging Criteria:
- Relevance to IEEE Standards
- Response to question
- Creativity
- Originality
- Quality of production
