Newly Published Standards
  • IEEE 802c™-2017, Standard for Local and Metropolitan Area Networks: Overview and Architecture Amendment: Local Medium Access Control (MAC) Address Usage

Currently, globally unique MAC addresses are assigned to most IEEE 802® end stations and bridge ports. However, increasing use of virtual machines and Internet of Things (IoT) devices could exhaust the global MAC address space. The amendment will provide an optional local MAC address space structure. This structure will designate a range of local MAC addresses for protocols using a Company ID (CID) assigned by the IEEE Registration Authority, while another range of local MAC addresses will be designated for assignment by local administrators.

  • IEEE C37.24™-2017, Guide for Evaluating the Effect of Solar Radiation on Outdoor Metal-Enclosed Switchgear

This Guide assists in evaluating the effect of solar radiation on outdoor metal-enclosed switchgear.  Specific data are given in current-temperature relationship, and tabulation form for its application to outdoor metal-enclosed low-voltage power circuit breaker switchgear, outdoor metal-clad switchgear, and outdoor metal-enclosed interrupter switchgear. This is a revision of an earlier standard last revised in 2003.

  • IEEE 686™-2017, Standard Radar Definitions

This standard is devoted to providing radar definitions, for the purpose of promoting clarity and consistency in the use of radar terminology, by adding new terms as needed and deleting obsolete ones. The definitions represent the consensus of a panel of radar experts.

  • IEEE C57.12.40™-2017, Standard for Network, Three-Phase Transformers, 2500 kVA and Smaller; High Voltage, 34 500 V and Below; Low Voltage, 600 V and Below; Subway and Vault Types (Liquid Immersed)

This standard covers certain electrical, dimensional, and mechanical characteristics and takes into consideration certain safety features of three-phase, 60-Hz, liquid-immersed, self-cooled, network transformers with a primary grounding switch. These transformers are rated 2500 kVA and below with high voltages of 34 500 volts and below and secondaries of 600 volts and below.

  • IEEE 741™-2017, Standard Criteria for the Protection of Class 1E Power Systems and Equipment in Nuclear Power Generating Stations

This standard provides the principal design criteria, design features, and testing requirements for the protection of Class 1E power systems and equipment supplied from those systems. It identifies special protection features that are needed where the requirements of nuclear power generating stations necessitate supplementing accepted industry practices.
