In March 2012, the IEEE SA Corporate Advisory Group (CAG) traveled to India to conduct outreach directly to India‐based companies, focusing on the field of power, communications, and information technology, with hopes to solicit their interest and participation in IEEE standards projects.

The outreach activities had the CAG split between two cities, Bangalore and New Delhi. The outreach was primarily one-on-one visits with various India‐based companies. In addition, the CAG also met with The Indian Institute of Management (IIMs), the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), and MindTree. One technically focused workshop and one outreach session with the India Standards Interest Group were also conducted. The outreach visits covered the various topics, including:

  • Smart Grid
  • 802 networking
  • Telecommunications
  • Green technology
  • Medical devices
  • India Standards Interest Group (SIG)
  • Ultra high voltage
  • Software
  • Cyber security
  • Emerging technologies
  • Electronic design automation

At the conclusion of their outreach efforts, they reunited in Bangalore for the CAG meeting.

In addition to their outreach efforts, the IEEE SA CAG also followed up with organizations and universities previously visited on governance trips to India to continue building relationships.
