The National Electrical Safety Code® (NESC®), one of the world’s most widely adopted safety codes celebrates its’ 100th anniversary this year. Produced exclusively by IEEE, NESC provides best practices for safety of electric supply and communication utility systems to both public and private utilities.

Every five years NESC goes through a rigorous review process to keep the code up-to-date and useful for the protection of the public, electrical professionals, equipment and property. The IEEE Standards Association announced that on September 1, 2014 they will publish and open commentary on a preprint of the proposed changes for the 2017 Edition of NESC. All interested parties are welcome to review, affirm, or suggest additional changes to the code proposals.
