P1451.5p - Standard for Radio Frequency Channel Specifications for Performance Assessment of Industrial Wireless Systems
Project Details
This standard establishes a radio frequency (RF) reference environment model with a set of profiles establishing parameters for performance assessment scenarios. The standard applies to all wireless protocols intended for use in industrial and mission-critical industrial settings in which reliability concerns are important to the functioning of the underlying operational systems. These industrial wireless systems are used for carrying vital sensor, actuator, command, and control information. This standard includes a model that represents the radio frequency environment and accounts for performance degradation factors (aggressors) that impact radio channel behavior. Individual profiles are included to address the needs of different industries and levels of severity of the radio channel environment. Performance degradation factors include interference, competing traffic, and multi-path propagation. The standard does not cover the specifics of hardware implementations, underlying algorithms used to produce the RF reference environment or the methods by which the RF communications systems operate within the environment. Signal processing algorithms, machine-learning algorithms, and other implementation details are not considered for this standard.
