IEEE Sensors Registry

A web-based service providing users with the ability to register and easily access key information pertinent to finding and sourcing the right sensors for implementation based on certifications.

Fueled by advances in technology, new applications, Internet of Things (IoT) and market hype, growth in the sensors market is expected to exceed USD 345 billion at a CAGR of 8.9% by 2028 (Allied Market Research). This unprecedented growth continues to pose industry challenges related to inferior product quality, product misrepresentation, non-adherence to standards and lack of independent certification solutions.

The IEEE Sensors Registry has been designed to address ongoing market needs and help alleviate some of these challenges by consolidating this information in a searchable database.

Easily Access Key Information on Sensors Products

Offered as a web-based service, the IEEE Sensors Registry provides authoritative and trustworthy information on sensors products that can benefit participating manufacturers, buyers, and registry users.

Benefits for Manufacturers, Registry Users and Sensors Purchasers

  • Declare any certifications your products may have and the standards they adhere to
  • Publish detailed product information via data sheets
  • Participate in the development of Sensors Certification program that can help differentiate your products from non-certified competitors

IEEE IoT Sensors Advisory Committee

Internet of Things (IoT) sensors have experienced explosive growth during the last decade and are poised for continued mass-scale adoption in smart cities, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and automotive industries, including the forthcoming autonomous vehicle markets. This explosive growth has exposed issues that are beginning the plague the adoption of IoT across industries.

Network interoperability and cybersecurity are the two most important issues consistently identified in micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) and sensors industry surveys and market reports show that they are the biggest impediments to market growth.

To meet these challenges, IEEE created the IEEE IoT Sensors Advisory Committee, which will be housed under the IEEE Industry Connections (IC) program and will work closely with the IEEE Conformity Assessment Program (ICAP) to jointly develop solutions to the requirements suggested by industry experts that participate in the advisory committee.
