Consumer Communications Workstream

Consumer Communications Workstream

Consumer communications is important to provide improved, secure and reliable connectivity for data intensive applications like UAV, gaming, media, AR/VR, web based intensive applications. Consumer communication is not only about embracing and defining new technologies, but also about embracing the new perceptions/ realities towards consumers as well.

The goal of the workstream is to provide connectivity to the evolving higher throughput, lower latency applications. See below for some of the activities and standards this practice is working on to help grow the ecosystem of invested stakeholders and reach our goals.

IEEE 802 Network Enhancements for the Next Decade

The goal of this activity is to assess, outside of the IMT activity, emerging requirements for IEEE 802 wireless and higher-layer communication infrastructures, identify commonalities, gaps, and trends not currently addressed by IEEE 802 standards and projects, and facilitate building industry consensus towards proposals to initiate new standards development efforts.
