ISO/IEC/IEEE International Standard - Software, systems and enterprise -- Architecture evaluation framework

This document complements the architecture-related processes identified in ISO/IEC/IEEE 42020, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207 and ISO 15704 with a framework in support of architecture evaluation. It especially supports the Architecture Evaluation process in ISO/IEC/IEEE 42020. Implementing the principles and concepts in this framework will help ensure that the architecture has greater influence on business and mission success. It specifies a coherent set of elements for use in evaluation synthesis, value assessment and architectural analysis. Users of this standard can apply the framework in the context of: (1) determination of the suitability of a proposed architecture; (2) choosing among architecture alternatives; and (3) assessing the mission or business impact from the use of a new architecture or change to an established architecture.

P42024
Standard for Enterprise, systems and software --- Architecture fundamentals

This document specifies a core set of vocabulary, concepts and principles associated with the architecture practice for various kinds of entities, including enterprise, business component, capability area, mission, system, systems of systems, family of systems, infrastructure, product (goods or services), product line, service offering, software, technology and business domain. The vocabulary, concepts and principles apply within the context of: - organizations that develop architecture; - organizations that deliver enterprise constructs wider than, aligned with, or within the parent organization; - organizations seeking sustained success through the implementation of architecture practice; - organizations and interested parties seeking to improve communication through a common understanding of the vocabulary, concepts and principles used in architecture description; - organizations performing conformity assessments against the requirements of architecture-related standards and specifications; - providers of architecture descriptions, guidelines, training, education, evaluation or recommendations in architecture practice; - developers of architecture-related standards, architecture description languages, architecture modelling languages, reference architectures, reference models related to architecture, architecture frameworks and architecture-related tools and technologies.

P42042
Standard for Enterprise, Systems and Software --- Reference architectures

This standard specifies the requirements to be satisfied by reference architectures (RA) applicable to entities of interest such as software, systems, enterprises, missions, systems of systems, families of systems, products (goods or services), product lines, technologies, and business domains. The application areas of this standard include the following: artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), cloud computing, big data, smart cities, smart manufacturing, cybersecurity, digital twin, telecommunications, aerospace, defense, banking, finance, insurance, energy, automotive, logistics, hospitality, healthcare, supply chain, transportation, manufacturing and production, agriculture, and infrastructure. Some RAs are not specific to a domain of their application, rather they capture a domain of interest for many application areas, e.g., the domain of security architecture is relevant for many application areas.

42010-2022
IEEE/ISO/IEC International Standard for Software, systems and enterprise--Architecture description

This document specifies requirements for the structure and expression of an architecture description (AD) for various entities, including software, systems, enterprises, systems of systems, families of systems, products (goods or services), product lines, service lines, technologies and business domains. This document distinguishes the architecture of an entity of interest from an AD expressing that architecture. Architectures are not the subject of this document. This document specifies requirements for use of the architectural concepts and their relationships as captured in an AD. It does not specify requirements for any entity of interest or its environment. This document specifies requirements for an architecture description framework (ADF), an architecture description language (ADL), architecture viewpoints and model kinds in order to usefully support the development and use of an AD. This document specifies conformance to the requirements for an AD, ADF, ADL, architecture viewpoint and model kind. This document does not specify the processes, architecting methods, models, notations, techniques or tools by which an AD is created, utilized or managed. This document does not specify any format or media for recording an AD.

42020-2019
ISO/IEC/IEEE International Standard - Software, systems and enterprise -- Architecture processes

This document complements the architecture-related processes identified in ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207 and ISO 15704 with activities and tasks that enable architects and others to more effectively and efficiently implement architecture practices. Implementing these practices can help ensure that the architecture has greater influence on business and mission success. It specifies a coherent set of processes for governance, management, conceptualization, evaluation and elaboration of architectures, and activities that enable these processes. Users of this document can apply these processes in the context of: (1) understanding, development and evolution of entities through their life cycle stages such as conception, development, implementation, operation, sustainment, decommissioning, and disposal; (2) organization(s) acting as users, customers and providers of the solution specified by the architecture description; and (3) architecting of entities.
