The UN World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS)+20 High-Level Event 2025 will take place from 7-11 July 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland, in parallel with the AI for Good Global Summit, with options for remote participation.
During the open event, a series of workshops [“Partner Insights”], High-Level Policy Sessions [“Leaders TalkX”], and special tracks will be held on various thematic areas addressing issues that are important in helping to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, IEEE will make High-Level Policy Statements, hold a workshop on “Global Standards for a Sustainable Future” and one on “Intergenerational Dialogue on Technology for Innovation and Global Resilience: Strategies for Ethical AI, Digital Inclusion, and Climate Action”, and host a Knowledge Cafe around “Unleashing the Power of Sustainability: Leveraging ICTs for a Planet Positive Future”.

Join this interactive Knowledge Cafe hosted by IEEE as part of the IEEE Planet Positive 2030 initiative. At the session, participants will explore together how strong sustainability principles, technical standards, and policy approaches that are people and place-centered can work together to advance progress toward the UN SDGs. Participants will engage in small-group discussions to reflect on how technology design and standards can better support ecosystem integrity and resilience, resource availability, and inclusive local development.

Intergenerational Dialogue on Technology for Innovation and Global Resilience: Strategies for Ethical AI, Digital Inclusion, and Climate Action
This session will facilitate an intergenerational dialogue on leveraging technology for innovation and global resilience, focusing on ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital inclusion, and climate action. It will explore regulatory challenges in AI governance, data sovereignty, and equitable access to digital technologies while fostering a collaborative, youth-led approach to responsible AI implementation. This discussion will highlight how young professionals and experienced leaders can work together to help shape AI policies and standards that promote trustworthy, fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in AI development and deployment, enabling a sustainable and ethically-driven technological future.
