The purpose of this recommended practice is to provide guidance and fundamental principles for the engineering of industrial and commercial power systems. It is likely to be of greatest value to the power-oriented engineer with limited experience with such systems as well as a primer for the younger engineer entering the work force with power system responsibilities. It can also be an aid to students and all engineers responsible for the electrical design of industrial and commercial power systems. This recommended practice covers the fundamentals of the planning, design, analysis, construction, installation, start-up, operation and maintenance of electrical systems in industrial and commercial facilities.
