On 12 July, IEEE SA participated at Zinnov Globalization Summit 2012: “Industry Transforming Innovations by Leveraging the Ecosystem” in Bangalore, India.

Pamela Kumar, a member of the IEEE SA Board of Governors and director, India Systems and Technology Lab, with IBM, took part in two panel discussions. The first panel, “Accelerating Capability Development for Technology Innovation”, discussed the state of affairs with regards to the current capability, talent pool and ecosystem. The panel focused on some of the challenges in this transformation/re-engineering journey and ways to mitigate them. Also, the speakers shared insights on some of the critical success factors that have enabled them build the necessary capability in their organizations to drive technology innovation.

The second panel, “Open Innovation—MNC R&D (multi-national company research-and-development) Centers”, focused on MNC R&D centers in India collaborating with universities, startups and even peers for the purpose of collaborative innovation for the purpose of sharing knowledge, best practices or even working together formally where emerging markets are concerned. The first of its kind, this session aimed to simulate an open innovation engagement by providing a common problem to different ecosystem players to solve collectively.

In addition to participating in panels, the IEEE SA exhibited a booth where attendees were able to learn first-hand about the IEEE SA and our on-going efforts worldwide.
