IEEE Standards Engagements in Turkey highlight IEEE 802™ and eHealth Standardization Activities

The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE SA) was hosted by the IEEE Turkey Section for several events and engagements from 19-20 June 2018. The engagement was focused on two events – the IEEE Standards Summit in Istanbul, and the Electronic Communications Standards Summit in Ankara. The IEEE Standards Summit in Istanbul took place on 19 June at Medipol University. The event provided an introduction to standardization and related innovation platforms, and focused on two technical domains – IEEE 802 standards and eHealth work, in particular the P2727 legal metrology and P11073 Service-oriented Device Connectivity Families of standards.

The Electronic Communications Standards Summit in Ankara was hosted by BTK (Bilgi İletişim ve Teknolojileri Kurumu), the Telecommunications Authority. The event covered wireless communications and smart manufacturing.

In addition to the IEEE SA presentations on these topics, local technologists presented on local perspectives and priorities. Both events were sponsored by local companies and associations.

In addition to these two events, IEEE SA engaged with the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), Turkish Health Institute and Turkish Ministry of Health and other members of the technology community.

The event and activities were supported by the vibrant IEEE Student and Young Professional communities as well, and they presented their activities with the IEEE SA team.
