Today, as much as ever, 802.3 is taking on new challenges and further expanding its application horizon. In a recent article, Wael Diab, Vice-Chair of the IEEE802.3 Ethernet Working Group, reveals advances in the ever-increasing need for speed, as well as developments in new areas such as power savings, gigabit Ethernet solutions using less wire, and new application spaces. The constant evolution of IEEE 802 and IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and its slew of new interfaces show there are still many new spaces and applications to conquer. Wael’s article, New Technologies From the World’s Ubiquitous Wired Connectivity Standard, Ethernet—a.k.a. IEEE 802.3, is published in the Fierce Telecom eBook Finding New Gold in Copper.
