All Hydroelectric Power in One Disk
The hydroelectric power standards developed by the IEEE address nearly all practical aspects of this complex field. A new VuSpec CD-ROM, IEEE Hydroelectric Power, packages these standards in one place to offer the most complete hydroelectric power standards resource available for electrical engineers, manufacturers, government bodies, utilities and others.

This disk contains all the complete collection of active IEEE hydroelectric standards, six additional standards, eight essential technical papers and a bibliography of key papers. Its research features include an electronic glossary of terms, a keyword index, and the ability to search through the entire standards set.

The standards on the disk span hydroelectric power plant operation, maintenance, rehabilitation and testing. Specific topics addressed include controls for steam turbine-generators; hydro-generators and electric power service systems; turbine governing systems and vertical generators; and generator and motors.

Updated Radiation Portal Monitor Standard Now Available
The IEEE has published a revised version of IEEE/ANSI N42.35™, American National Standard for Evaluation and Performance of Radiation Detection Portal Monitors for Use in Homeland Security.

This standard specifies criteria and test methods for evaluating radiation detection portal monitors for photon- and neutron-emitting radioactive substances. These monitors are used to detect, interdict and prevent illicit radioactive materials in relation to people, packages, containers and vehicles. This standard is based on instruments used to support efforts associated with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

An Encompassing Look at IEEE 802® Standards
You want to go wireless, but how do you connect? The recently published book, Wireless Communication Standards: A Study of 802.11™, 802.15™, and 802.16™, will help you become part of the wireless generation.

This volume offers a comprehensive overview of wireless local area, personal area and metropolitan area network standards. It also looks at how to deploy WLAN networks, discusses wireless research problems and business trends, and considers future standards development. It is the only offering in the IEEE Standards Information Networks Series that considers all IEEE 802® wireless standards.

It is written in a clear style by Dr. Todor Cooklev of San Francisco State University for engineers, computer scientists, managers and marketing specialists. It can be used as the primary text for undergraduate or graduate courses on wireless standards or as a supplementary text for a wireless communications course.

This 325-page study guide is as appropriate for those just getting their feet wet in wireless communications as it is for wireless experts. You can obtain a copy of Wireless Communications Standards: A Study of IEEE 802.11™, 802.15™, and 802.16™ here.
