Preview the Coming Changes to the 2012 NESC!

The next edition of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) won't be published for more than two years, but now is your chance to preview the proposed changes that will be incorporated into this critical standard.

Available in September, the "Preprint Proposals for the 2012 Edition of the National Electrical Safety Code" will provide the full text of each proposed revision to the 2007 edition of the NESC. It will also include the recommendations from the subcommittees that have cognizance of the rules addressed by the change proposals.

The Preprint is your opportunity to review the preliminary recommended changes to NESC and gives you the ability to submit comments based on these recommendations.

Available September 1st - Pre-order your copy for special pre-release pricing.

IEEE 1516 Standards Series Collected

The five interrelated standards in the IEEE 1516™ series are collected in the new volume, "Modeling and Simulation [M&S] High Level Architecture [HLA]."

The package contains all standards in the HLA series, including IEEE 1516, IEEE 1516.1, IEEE 1516.2, IEEE 1516.3 and IEEE 1516.4. These standards are interrelated and work together to form a complete picture of High Level Architecture.

Using HLA will allow for new and different modeling and simulation (M&S) implementations that will help create a common architecture to create enhanced simulations.

New Amendment Available for IEEE 802.16

The latest IEEE 802™ standard offers an amendment to IEEE 802.16™.

IEEE Std 802.16j™, "IEEE Standard for Local and metropolitan area networks---Part 16: Air Interface for Fixed and Mobile Broadband Wireless Access Systems---Amendment 1: Multihop Relay Specification," specifies OFDMA physical layer and medium access control layer enhancements to IEEE Std 802.16 for licensed bands to enable the operation of relay stations.

Inserting fixed relays into a cell, whose sole purpose is to aid communication from base station to mobile station and vice versa, is called a multihop cellular network (MCNs). The purpose of 802.16j is to expand previous single-hop 802.16 standards to include multihop capability. The scope of the standard is limited to the point-to-multipoint (PMP) OFDMA PHY mode.

From frame modifications to a relay MAC protocol, 802.16j required extensive additions to the PHY and MAC of IEEE 802.16.
