The IEEE-SA Standards Board Distinguished Service Award is made annually to member(s) of the IEEE-SA Standards Board, or to past member(s) going back as far as five years from the current date, to recognize distinguished service to the IEEE-SA Standards Board based on major contributions to the standards development process, for example:
- Enhancing the process through continued service on its major action committees (i.e., NesCom, RevCom, ProCom, etc.),
- Leadership in developing new aspects of what the IEEE Standards Association can do to improve its procedural process,
- Interaction on behalf of the IEEE Standards Association to promote national and international growth of standards as a product of the IEEE,
- Representing the IEEE Standards Association at various levels within IEEE Societies/Committees and other standards-developing organizations (ASME, IEC, etc.), which encourages the implementation of the IEEE Standards Association mission and its goals.
Recognition consists of an engraved wooden plaque.

Suggested Location for Presentation of Award: The award is to be presented at the annual IEEE-SA Awards Ceremony. There is no funding from the IEEE-SA for the recipient for travel to or accommodations at the award venue.
