WRITE THE DRAFT
Writing the Draft

1) Read the Editorial FAQs and IEEE Dictionary FAQs first to gain an understanding of these processes.

2) Draft preparation tools:
-- FrameMaker MIF Templates - Frontmatter and Body
-- FrameMaker Templates (Version 7) - Frontmatter and Body
-- Word Template PC ONLY (Word 1997, 2000, 2003 or 2007.Revised and Updated September 2008.)
NOTE: When using MS Word 2007 save as a 2007 .doc; however, if saved as a Word 1997-2003 .doc do not change versions. Crossing Word versions could corrupt the macros.

3) Draft preparation information:
- IEEE Standards Style Manual - presents a strict order for the first three clauses of your standard.
- Version Control of Drafts
- Graphics in your document
- Normative and Informative Annexes
- References and Bibliography

4) Writing a Revision, Amendment, or Corrigendum

5) Mandatory Editorial Coordination is required prior to the start of an IEEE-SA Sponsor Ballot in order to ensure conformance with IEEE requirements. In addition, all copyright permission letters shall be submitted at this time. This review of your draft and permission letters can reduce the number of recirculations and will help to avoid delays in approval or possible rejection at RevCom.
