INITIATE THE PROJECT
Getting Started

Project Authorization Request (PAR) — the means by which standards projects are started in the IEEE-SA. After PAR approval, as well as during the development of your draft, a modified PAR request may be needed to align the title, scope and purpose with that of the draft.

PAR-Related Training Material — PowerPoint presentations to assist you with the PAR submittal process.

New Standards Committee (NesCom) — this committee has been delegated the responsibility of considering all PAR requests and providing recommendations to the IEEE-SA Standards Board. NesCom is also responsible for any changes to the PAR that may occur during the standards development process.

List of Approved PARs — PARs approved by the IEEE-SA Standards Board. This list can be used to research ongoing projects or check the expiration date of a project. In addition, you can also verify that the title, scope and purpose on the PAR match that of your developing draft.

Extension Request — request an extension to your PAR's initial four-year life. An extension may be requested for one to four years.

IEEE Standards Companion — an in-depth guide that provides detailed information about the IEEE standards development process.
