Simulation information for 802.15.3 coexistence

The actual calculations for the coexistence results in the 802.15.3 standard used the macro capability of the Open Office spreadsheet program, http://www.openoffice.org. OpenOffice is free software that provides traditional office suite functionality with open standards and cross-platform capability. You can find out more about free software at http://www.gnu.org and about open source software at http://www.opensource.org .

The graphs were created using gnuplot 3.7, http://www.gnuplot.info, and were exported to encapsulated postscript files for inclusion in the standard. The TIFF previews that were used for editing purposes in FrameMaker were added using gsview 2.7, http://www.ghostscript.com.

The spreadsheets used to generate the data (which also contain the macros used for the calculations) can be downloaded from the following links:
802.15.3/802.11b calculations
802.15.3/802.15.1 calculations

For each graph, there are four types of files archived here:

  1. The data points (ending in .dat)
  2. The gnuplot commands that describe the graph (endingin .gnu)
  3. The gnuplot commands to make the .eps file (ending in .plot)
  4. The finished eps picture (ending in .eps)
These files can be accessed individually from the table below:
File description File types
BER curves for 802.15.3, 802.11 and 802.15.1 .dat .gnu .plot .eps
FER of 802.15.3 with 802.11b as the interferer .dat .gnu .plot .eps
FER of 802.11b with 802.15.3 as the interferer in the adjacent channel .dat .gnu .plot .eps
FER of 802.11b with 802.15.3 as the interferer in the alternate channel .dat .gnu .plot .eps
FER of 802.11b with 802.15.3 as the interferer in the same channel .dat .gnu .plot .eps
FER of 802.15.3 and 802.15.1 interfering with each other .dat .gnu .plot .eps
