Call for Participation in Developing IEEE P1893™ and IEEE P1894™
Measurement of DC Transmission Line and Earth Electrode Line Parameters Working Group (MDCTL/EEL WG ) MDCTL/EEL WG is developing IEEE P1893, which provides testing methods for direct current (DC) transmission line impedance and gives reference-defined values for the test results.
Online Monitoring and Recording Systems for Transient Overvoltage in Electric Power System Working Group (OMTO WG) OMTO WG is developing IEEE P1894, which presents methods for online monitoring and recording of transient overvoltage in power system.
A kick-off meeting for both WGs is scheduled to run from 9-10 October 2013 in Dujiang Dam of Chengdu, China, hosted by State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Research Institute. If you are interested in participating, or have any questions, we ask that you please contact WG Chairman Yanqiu Bi
IEEE INTERNET OF THINGS (IoT) WEBINAR: Featuring presentations on IoT-related projects and innovations by global industry leaders
23 October 2013 from 15:00 to 16:30 CEST
To address the expectation that 50 to 100 billion "things" will be electronically connected via the Internet by the year 2020, IEEE-SA has published dozens of standards related to IoT and has several development projects under way that focus on its future. During the Webinar, attendees will explore the dynamics of IoT markets, especially in Europe, and the convergence of platforms and services.

Let’s Get Together
One of the most memorable and productive activities I have been fortunate enough to engage in during 2013 has been our board’s work in setting IEEE’s strategic priorities. The work brought out the best in our differing perspectives, unique backgrounds, and individual insights.
