DC Microgrids and Standards Workshop
30 January 2017 / 9:00AM -5:30PM IST JW Marriott Mumbai - Mumbai, India
Off-grid microgrid applications can provide power where infrastructure costs or other issues are prohibitive for a fully connected system. IEEE has an initiative in place to make this a reality.
This workshop addresses the needs of the electrical power industry to provide safe and economic access to electricity in areas of developed and developing countries where centralized electric power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure does not exist. Development of the IEEE 2030.10™ will also be highlighted.
Benefits of Using IEEE Nuclear Standards: A multi-stakeholder view
IEEE experts will provide an overview of IEEE Nuclear power standards, handbook, and history behind standards. You will hear perspectives from nuclear utilities, testing laboratories and manufacturers that use and benefit from IEEE nuclear standards. Lab testing is critical in equipment qualification, with some examples shared about seismic and LOCA testing. There will also be an introduction to the proposed IEEE Nuclear Standards Certification Program.
Timing Challenges in the Smart Grid - Workshop Report
Correct time and timing is one of the foundational elements in enabling the communication and orchestration of technologies for accurate and optimal wide area monitoring, protection and control in the power industry. NIST and IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) conducted a workshop to gather inputs from stakeholders in order to identify, analyze, and provide guidance on technologies, standards and methodologies for addressing the practical challenges that are currently being experienced in wide area time synchronization.
