IEEE 802.3: Celebrating 30 Years of Networking Technology Excellence and Innovation
May 22, 1973 saw the invention of one of the world's greatest technology innovations: Ethernet. However, this seminal technology could not have become the unparalleled success it is today without the efforts of thousands of dedicated individuals around the world – the members of the IEEE 802.3 Working Group.
Call for Participation in Revising IEEE 2200™
IEEE 2200-2012 helps consumers schedule downloads and enjoy uninterrupted viewing of high-quality content by using IEEE 2200-enabled software to cache files, taking into account network policies, content policies, storage capabilities and bandwidth utilization.
IEEE 2200 was approved in June 2012 and the Working Group is now adding powerful new capabilities slated for submission in March 2014. The project currently extends IEEE 2200 with additional support enabling devices to queue and deliver content to each other within a local network, ensuring that high-quality content is cached and can be found when needed. The Working Group is actively seeking new participants, so if you are interested, please contact WG Chairman William Fisher

Call for Participation in Developing IEEE 1680™
The IEEE Computer Society, in conjunction with IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), invites all interested parties to notify us if they wish to actively participate in the development of IEEE P1680.4™ Standard for Environmental Assessment of Servers.
IEEE eLearning Library Offers 10 New Courses
Engineers who want to take their careers and technical skills to the next level may benefit from 10 new courses offered through IEEE's eLearning Library. Five of the online classes focus on professional and leadership training, while the rest look at battery- and electric-vehicle technologies.
Prosthetic Limbs Offer a Sense of Touch
The sense of touch allows us to process data about our everyday world. Without it, we might have to visually calculate how wide to stretch our fingers each time we reached for the phone or how much pressure to apply when typing on a keyboard. For those with prosthetic limbs, these simplest of tasks are an ongoing struggle.
