IEEE
Industry Applications Society (IAS)
A world leader in the advancement of technology and dissemination
of technical information to support professionals engaged in the
applications of electrical and electronic engineering to industry.
IAS
Petroleum and Chemical Industry Committee (PCIC) Safety Sub-Committee
- Accelerates application of breakthrough improvements in human
factors, technology, and managing systems that reduce risk of
electrical injuries,
- Stimulates innovation in overcoming barriers,
- Changes and advances the electrical safety culture to enable
sustainable improvements in prevention of electrical accidents
and injuries. Read more about PCIC's
Impact on Electrical Safety.
IAS
Electrical Safety Workshop
Founded in 1991 by the IAS Petroleum & Chemical Industry Committee
and has served to accelerate the dispersion of information and
knowledge impacting electrical safety in the petroleum and chemical
industry.
IEEE
Product Safety Society
Provides a professional forum for Product Safety professionals,
both to develop their own skills, and to provide Product Safety
outreach to engineers, students, and others.
IEEE
1584 Arc Flash
This purpose of this guide is to provide techniques for designers
and facility operators to apply in determining the arc flash hazard
distance and the incident energy to which employees could be exposed
during their work on or near electrical equipment.
IEEE
Color Books Zone
A resource website for industrial and commercial power systems
standards information. The IEEE Color Books provide the most reliable
information on electrical power production, distribution and utilization
in industrial and commercial power systems.
IEEE
National Electrical Safety Code® Zone
A resource website for National Electrical Safety Code (NESC®)
information. The National Electrical Safety Code sets the ground
rules for practical safeguarding of persons during the installation,
operation, or maintenance of electric supply and communication
lines and associated equipment.
IEEE
Power Engineering Society
The scope of the Society embraces planning, research, development,
design, application, construction, installation and operation
of apparatus, equipment, structures, materials and systems for
the safe, reliable and economic generation, transmission, distribution,
conversion, measurement and control of electric energy. It includes
the developing of engineering standards, the providing of information
and instruction to the public and to legislators, as well as technical
scientific, literary, educational and other activities that contribute
to the electric power discipline or utilize the techniques or
products within this discipline.
IEEE
- P1683 New Motor Control Centers (MCC) Working Group
A group of IEEE members made up of MCC users, MCC
manufacturers and others have started an effort to make a step
change in electrical safety in regards to MCCs. This standard
will be focused on reducing the probability of a shock or arc-flash
incident occurring.
