IEEE Registration Authority has been working to improve and enhance its products, services, and support tools for you the customer. Recently we solicited your ideas and suggestions, and as a result of your feedback, we have decided to make some improvements.
Introducing more user-friendly product names
IEEE Registration Authority is implementing a more user-friendly naming convention for its products. In an effort to provide relevant and easy to identify names, we've incorporated the recognized term MAC (Media Access Control), along with the specific address "block" size (Large, Medium, Small), for those products that provide customers with MAC addresses:
MAC Addresses - Large (MA-L) = 16 million 48-bit addresses—previously called OUI (OUI-24)
MAC Addresses - Small (MA-S) = 4096 48-bit addresses—previously called OUI-36, but also encompassing IAB
In response to your suggestions, we've also created NEW products, that will be available in January of 2014!
IEEE Registration Authority has created the new product, MAC Addresses - Medium (MA-M) = 1 million 48-bit addresses, which under the old naming convention would have been referred to as OUI-28.
Also, in an effort to cut down on wasted MAC addresses, the IEEE Registration Authority has developed a new Company ID (CID) product.
