The Revision of Fuse Standards Working Group of the HV Fuses Subcommittee meets every six months in conjunction with the IEEE PES Switchgear Committee meetings. The WG is responsible for maintenance of HV fuse standards: - HVF-C37.40: HVF - IEEE Standard Service Conditions and Definitions for High-Voltage Fuses, Distribution Enclosed Single-Pole Air Switches, Fuse Disconnecting Switches, and Accessories - HVF-C37.41: HVF - IEEE Standard Design Tests For High-Voltage Fuses, Distribution Enclosed Single-Pole Air Switches, Fuse Disconnecting Switches, and Accessories - HVF-C37.48: HVF - IEEE Guide for the Application, Operation, and Maintenance of High-Voltage Fuses, Distribution Enclosed Single-Pole Air Switches, Fuse Disconnecting Switches, and Accessories - HVF-C37.48.1: HVF - IEEE Guide for the Operation, Classification, Application, and Coordination of Current-Limiting Fuses with Rated Voltages 1-38kV While HV fuse technology tends to change at a relatively modest pace, the ubiquitous nature of fuses and the trend to increasingly limited user fuse expertise requires that our standards be constantly up graded to be more "user" friendly. Also the use of new materials require new testing methods and a good liaison with IEC fuse standards, with which there is close harmony. Present activity is associated with an update of C37.48.1, a "tutorial" style document intended as a Current-limiting Fuse User's Guide.
