Currently In North America the only IEEE standard available for bushings is for oil filled bushings used on power transformers, but none for bushings that are used on oil-free circuit breakers, and switchgear The IEEE C37.017 Working Group will develop a standard for bushings that can be applied to high voltage gas insulated circuit breakers and gas insulated switchgear. These bushings are intended for indoor and outdoor use, operating on alternating current with a rated voltage greater than 1000 V and a frequency of 50 or 60 Hz.
