There is presently no industry wide guide or standard that describes the variety of publicly and privately accessible voltages resulting from the delivery and use of electrical energy. Many of the terms presently in use do not have precise definitions, or have definitions with multiple or regional meanings. The IEEE P1695 Working group will develop a Trial Use Guide which will focus primarily on the presence of power frequency related voltages. It will create necessary definitions; and will discuss causes, impacts, testing techniques, and mitigation. When complete the guide will help dispel misinformation surrounding this topic and enhance public safety.
