WG D5W is responsible for the development and maintenance of IEEE 1185, "Recommended Practices for Cable Installation at Generating Stations and Industrial Facilities". This document describes methods and techniques to improve cable installation practices in generating stations and industrial facilities, which includes cable lubrication methods, conduit-cable pulling charts, pull rope selection criteria, pulling attachment methods, alternative methods to traditional cable pulling tension monitoring, etc. This document replaces cable installation information, which was previously provided in IEEE Std. 422-1986 (now withdrawn) and shown in the Appendices of IEEE Std. 690-1984, which have been removed from the 2004 revision of IEEE Std. 690.
