Registration Authority

IEEE offers Registration Authority programs or registries which maintain lists of unique identifiers under standards and issue unique identifiers to those wishing to register them. The IEEE Registration Authority assigns unambiguous names to objects in a way which makes the assignment available to interested parties.

IEEE 802.16™ OPERATOR ID (OpID)

The OpID is used as the upper 24-bits of the Base Station Identifier per IEEE Std 802.16 for use in IEEE 802.16 networks.

If your firm deploys network(s) using IEEE Std 802.16 that require Globally Unique Operator ID(s), you should apply to IEEE for your firm's IEEE 802.16 Operator ID. This is the one world-wide source of registered IEEE 802.16 Operator IDs.

Application Information
Please search the public listing to determine whether your Organization has already been issued an 802.16 OpID assignment. If so you may email us to obtain contact information for the assignment. If not, see information below:

  1. Complete and submit the IEEE 802.16 Operator ID application. Applications expire after 30 days.
  2. Any questions regarding your application will be sent to the REQUESTOR.
  3. Applications are processed within 7 business days from receipt of payment.
  4. The public IEEE 802.16 Operator ID listing is updated as new assignments are issued.
