This standard provides the user with the general, testing, marking, and documentation requirements for the design and manufacture of impedance heating systems. Impedance heating systems which follow the requirements as outlined here historically have proven to: A) Maintain design temperature of contained material or heated surfaces B) Provide electrical, thermal, and mechanical durability and reliability C) Minimize hazards to the user and/or the surroundingsThis standard provides the general system requirements for impedance heating. Certification requirements for the various component parts of an impedance heating system are detailed. In addition the marking and documentation requirements are also covered. This standard applies to all impedance heating systems in general industrial applications and covers installation in ordinary locations as well as hazardous areas having potentially explosive atmospheres.
