Sponsor requests an extension for IEEE Std 1062. After some period of difficulty in locating appropriate resources, the Sponsor has identified a working group chair for a revision project. The revision PAR has missed the deadline for the December meeting of NesCom, but will be submitted for the March 2008 meeting. Therefore, the Sponsor requests a one-year extension to keep the standard in place until the PAR for revision is approved.

Recommendation: Extend until December 2008.

1228-1994 (R2002) IEEE Standard for Software Safety Plans

Sponsor requests an extension for IEEE Std 1228. It is currently being used as a base document in a coordinated IEEE/ISO/IEC project (15026) on software and systems assurance. It is possible that the project will produce a document that replaces 1228; alternatively, it might only supplement 1228. When the direction of the project becomes clear, we will either:
- Withdraw 1228
- Reaffirm it

We request an extension of two years in order to complete the determination of the appropriate course of action.

Extend until December 2009. The reason for this request is that this standard was adopted by ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7. The reaffirmation due date should be extended so that it matches the maintenance date of its counterpart in ISO.

12207.2-1997 IEEE/EIA Guide for Information Technology - Software Life Cycle Processes - Implementation Considerations

Sponsor requests an extension for IEEE/EIA 12207.2. This Guide provides guidance to the provisions of 12207.0 and 12207.1. A current coordinated IEEE/ISO/IEC project will replace 12207.0 with 12207. A current coordinated project will replace 12207.1 with 15289. This will create a problematic situation for 12207.2. Furthermore, a project on the December NesCom agenda will provide guidance to the provisions of the new 12207. All of this creates a problematic situation for 12207.2. When all of this settles out, we will either:
- Stabilize 12207.2 (if the Ops Manual permits it)
- Withdraw it
- Or, a long shot, revise it so that it provides additional guidance to the new 12207

We request an extension of two years in order to permit the related projects to complete before making a decision.

Most of the content that needs to be added to a revision has already been completed in a separate project (11073-30400) that was recently deemed more appropriate to be added to this item.

Also, this standard is referenced by a number of other standards, including CLSI's POCT1-A2, which is now being internationalized as ISO 11073-90101 (under FDIS ballot now).

We request an extension of this standard for one more year + we would appreciate anything you could do to resolve the process issues regarding how to sync the IEEE and ISO time lines for this standard.
