Geoff Thompson made the suggestion that areas of the PAR form not open to review for an extension request be grayed out. The committee agreed this was a very good suggestion. It will also be added to the list for updates to be discussed in March.

7          NEW BUSINESS

7.1       2009 NesCom Calendar
The 2009 NesCom Calendar was presented for review.

A straw poll was taken to see which committee members, if appointed to any of the Standards Board committees for 2009, would be able to attend the June meetings in Tokyo. Of the ten members present the results were:

7.2       Smart Grid Presentation - DeBlasio
Dick DeBlasio gave an informative presentation about a proposed plan to build a body of interoperability smart grid standards. The intention is to submit the first PAR for this project in March.

The NesCom committee members are encouraged to express any concerns regarding this project during the comment period prior to the March meeting. It is noted that it might be a good idea to put this PAR at the end of the agenda so that time can be taken to discuss any concerns.

7.3       Maintenance of Standards vs Maintenance of PARs - Prevost

Chair Prevost informed the group that the Action Item of the September minutes, to send letters to the WG expressing concern that the base standard had not been reaffirmed and had come close to lapsing, had not been taken. The PARs had not exceeded the timeframes established by our procedures.

It was determined that this is beyond the scope of NesCom. We are concerned with PAR actions. The maintenance of standards is the responsibility of RevCom.

The next Continuous Processing teleconference of NesCom will take place on 19 January 2008, at
2:00 p.m. ET. The submittal deadline is 12 December 2008. Committee members for 2008 are expected to fulfill this final scheduled commitment.

The next quarterly meeting of NesCom will take place on 18 March 2009 in Piscataway, New Jersey, USA.

9        ADJOURNMENT

Bob Grow, Chair of the Standards Board thanked everyone on the NesCom Committee for their dedication and hard work in 2008.

Tom Prevost, Chair echoed Bob's sentiments and thanked the group for volunteering their time which led to a very successful NesCom 2008.
