PISCATAWAY,
N.J., USA, 19 February 2004 A brochure from the IEEE Standards
Association (IEEE-SA) and The Open Group® describes the various
options manufacturers have for certifying products to the 2003
edition of IEEE 1003.1, "Standard for Information Technology:
Portable Operating System Interface (POSIX)." This standard,
also called ISO/IEC 9945:2003, merges with the Open Group's base
specifications that form the core of the Single UNIX Specification
Version 3.
The fees listed
in the brochure includes those for licensing the use of the POSIX®
trademark for specific software products, as well as for certifying
new products and renewing certification for existing ones. The
brochure also identifies various registration scenarios.
POSIX is a
set of standards that define an interface between programs and
operating systems. Under the certification program, suppliers
substantiate claims of conformance to POSIX based on defined test
suites.
