Toronto, ON - 16 October 2006 - The IEEE and
Canadian Standards Association (CSA), both leading
developers of standards and codes, today announced
a joint agreement designed to improve electrical safety
by promoting awareness, knowledge and the application
of standards and industry best practices in the community
and workplace.
Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding
between IEEE and CSA, the two organizations will work
closely to develop and provide products and services
designed to improve electrical safety. The two organizations
will also explore opportunities to jointly sponsor
conferences on subjects of common interest and pursue
other standardization initiatives.
The agreement is designed to provide an opportunity
to identify and establish long-term relationships
in areas that are strategically important to both
organizations, allow for the provision of solutions
in a timely manner that meet stakeholder needs, enable
collaboration and/or sharing of expertise in emerging
markets, and lead to the strengthening of national
and international recognition, acceptance, and use
of IEEE and CSA products and services.
