PISCATAWAY, N.J., USA, 23 October 2006
-- The IEEE Standards Association Standards Board
(SASB) has selected Arnold M. Greenspan as the chair
of the IEEE 802.20 working group. His appointment
results from the working group reorganization announced
in September, which called for the appointment of
new officers as well as new balloting and balloting
resolution committees (see http://standards.ieee.org/announcements/pr_80220plan.html).
The identification of a new chair enables the working
group to restart at the November IEEE 802 plenary
scheduled for the week of 12 November in Dallas, Texas,
USA.
Greenspan has more than three decades of professional
experience in the design and implementation of electrical
and electronic systems. A member of the IEEE Standards
Association Standards Board, he has over two decades
experience in IEEE standards development and has held
leadership positions on several standards development
projects.
According to Steve Mills, SASB chair, Greenspan's
strong professional experience in IEEE standards development
and allied fields of electrical engineering will allow
him to engage in the IEEE 802.20 activities from a
clearly neutral perspective.
"We expect Arnie's strong leadership will contribute
to the efficient operation of the IEEE 802.20 standards
development process," Mills said.
Paul Nikolich, chair of the IEEE 802 LAN/MAN Standards
Committee said, "The 802 executive committee
and I look forward to working with Mr. Greenspan in
leading the 802.20 working group in producing its
first standard."
Greenspan is president of Arosco, Inc., a company
providing technical, engineering and marketing support
to the aerospace and commercial industry.
The IEEE SASB is continuing its search for individuals
to fill the remaining 802.20 officer positions.

About the IEEE IEEE
is the world's largest technical professional society.
Through its 365,000 members in 150 countries, the
society is a leading authority on a wide variety of
areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and
telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric
power and consumer electronics. Dedicated to the advancement
of technology, the IEEE publishes 30 percent of the
world's literature in the electrical and electronics
engineering and computer science fields, and has developed
nearly 900 active industry standards. The organization
also sponsors or cosponsors more than 300 international
technical conferences each year.
