PISCATAWAY, N.J., USA, 1 March 2008 -- The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) and the Standards Institution of Israel (SII) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to share knowledge of each group's standards development activities and avoid technical duplication whenever possible. The focus of the MoU is to link specific Israeli industry leaders, stakeholders and technical experts with IEEE’s technical standards committees to drive increased participation and knowledge sharing, as well as to promote the relevance of IEEE standards to Israeli regulatory needs.
"This agreement will allow us to use the IEEE-SA brand to strengthen the Israel national standards system," said Doran Tamir, SII Director General. "It will also promote greater Israeli input and content into IEEE standards through greater Israeli participation in the IEEE standards development process, and promote Israel's acceptance and use of IEEE standards."

"This new relationship will help to continue the international usage of vital IEEE standards and enhance interoperability of devices using these standards," said Terry deCourcelle, IEEE-SA Director, Standards Process Support.
The Memorandum of Understanding between IEEE-SA and SII is effective for two years.
